Battery was replaced so in decent condition.
SSD drive had to be replaced but since then the laptop has been rebooting spuriously from time to time. Apple Genius told me that the drive wasn't the proper model for this mac, which is causing the rebooting. The mac is still usable but rebooting can be annoying. Perhaps the rebooting wouldn't happen under a Linux install. Or one could decide to replace the drive for a proper one...
