An European family in Western Canada is looking for an AuPair-type family helper for 2,5 months in fall 2025.
Please read the below description carefully to determine if this opportunity might be for you:
Period of stay: 1 August - 15 October 2025
-minimum 20 years of age
-impeccable character, proven ability to take and hold responsibility
-culturally flexible and adaptable attitude
-good mental and physical health
-valid drivers' license obtained min. two years ago
-proficiency with both manual and automatic transmission cars
-solid skills and experience with both big city and highway driving
-non smoker, non drinker
-not vegan
Duties:
-driving (dropping off / picking children up) four days a week - no childcare is required
-light housework (vacuuming, laundry, dishes)
-pet care / pet sitting (small dog)
-light yard and garden care (mowing lawn, watering vegetable garden)
Family offers:
-own room, own bathroom, separate entrance
-free room and board (primarily vegetarian meals)
-free wifi
-three days a week almost always free for your own pursuits, studies, relaxation or local travel
-€350 stipend for flights at successful completion of stay
Family does not offer:
-salary or pocket money (this would necessitate a working visa)
-visa application assistance (most people need tourist visa / eTA which allows a 6 month stay)
-travel or health insurance
-any tourism services or trips within Canada
-bringing additional guests to the house
In short, this can be a lovely opportunity to visit Canada and learn about the country and its culture through living there.
Your duties on any given day rarely exceed half a day, and if the free days happen back to back (which they fairly often do) this allows for little trips in and around the area and even neighbouring provinces. Or if you are a doctoral student, researcher or anyone else needing time to write - you can.
The family's former helpers have been female but they are open to anyone, of any nationality, who feels this might be a good fit.
